The silence

Silence brings me close to God.

In the silence God speaks to me.

In the silence i fight with my sins, and in the silence i am who i really am… no masks!

In the silence God speaks, in the silence God wins my battles…

Silence brings me close to God.

When i pray

Pray is the key to conect with God. It’s more than talking with the mouth, it’s to hear with the soul and heart. It’s more than shouting out loud, it’s the silence and solitude in the presence of the King. Prayer take us higher and make us more human!

When i pray, i don’t need to say anything. I can only admire the beauty of the Creator. He knows my heart.

When i pray, i don’t need long speeches and¬†difficult words. With the simplicity of a child, God hears me and accepts me.

When i pray, i can be who i really am. I’m sure that when i pray, my Father hear my voice.

Text: Luke 19:1-10

When Jesus was passing through Jericho, a very rich man,  and a chief tax collector called Zacchaeus was there, and wanted to see Jesus. He was a short man, so he could not see Jesus because of the crowd. He had the idea of climbing a tree to see him.

When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him: Zacchaeus, come down, i wanna stay at your hous today!

Zacchaeus came down very immediately. All the people saw this and began to mutter. They hated Zacchaeus because he was a tax collector, and he had stollen many people of his own country.

But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord: I will give half of my possessions to the poor and if i have cheated anybody out of anything, i will pay back four times the amount.

He was paying back more than was required by the law. He was doing much more.

Jesus said: Today salvation has come to this house. For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost!

We can see three different expectations:

Zacchaeus expectation:

  1. See who Jesus was, because of His fame;
  2. See who Jesus was, because of His curiosity;
  3. See who Jesus was, but keep the control of his life.

Crowd expectation:

  1. Jesus could not walk with people like Zacchaeus;
  2. Jesus could not enter into the houses of people like Zacchaeus;
  3. “Jesus has gone to be the guest of a sinner” (v.7)

Jesus expectation:

  1. Seek intimacy with Zacchaeus;
  2. Take control of the situation;
  3. Fulfill His mission: “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost”

What are your expctations?

Zacchaeus had his expectation changed by having an encounter with Jesus Christ.

What about you?

In the book of Luke, chapter 8, verses 26 to 39, we see the encounter of Jesus with demon possessed man.

Jesus called His disciples to go to the other side of the lake, and when they steped ashore, Jesus was met by a demon possessed man from the town. This man had no clothes and no place to live. He lived in tombs and in solitary places.

Jesus had an encounter with him, and this man was never the same again. Jesus gave permission for the demons to go into the pigs that were feeding on the hillside, and the man was now tottaly healed.

Everyone went to see what had happened, and they saw the man, that once was a demon possessed man, now sitting at Jesus’ feet, dressed and in his right mind.

The people was afraid, and they asked Jesus to leave them. Jesus left, but told the man to return and to tell everyone everything God had done for him. And He begin to tell everyone what Jesus had done for him.

That is what happens when we have an encounter with Jesus. He heals us, He frees us and He sends us to tell everyone about Him. When we have a real encounter with God, we can’t stay silence, we can’t remain the same.

Yours forever

“History will have to record that the greatest tragedy of this period of social transition was not the vitriolic words and the violent acts of the bad people but the appalling silence and indifference of the good people. Our generation will have to repent not only for the words and actions of the children of darkness but also for the fears and apathy of the children of light.”

(Martin Luther King Jr.)

“It is only on this side of eternity that we have the opportunity to reach lost people for Christ.”
